As a distinguished member of the Washington legal community, Frederick B. Abramson was a private practitioner, and served as President of the District of Columbia Bar and Bar Counsel to the Board on Professional Responsibility of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals. Growing up in Harlem, he received a scholarship to Yale University and graduated from the University of Chicago Law School.

Fred never forgot his roots or how crucial education was to his success. During his professional life he became a mentor and role model to courageous young people pursuing their dreams of education. After his untimely death, friends and colleagues sought to honor his memory and continue his commitment to young people by creating the Frederick B. Abramson Memorial Foundation.
