ABOUT US

  The Abramson Scholarship Foundation ("The Abramson Foundation"), a not-for-profit charitable corporation, was established in 1991 as a continuing tribute to the memory of Fred Abramson, a distinguished member of the Washington legal community. Fred Abramson was a President of the District of Columbia Bar, Bar Counsel to the Board on Professional Responsibility of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals and, perhaps most important, mentor and role model to scores of individuals.

OUR MISSION

The Abramson Scholarship Foundation provides financial support to enable DC public school graduates to attend four-year colleges and provides mentors to foster those students’ success.

The primary purpose of the Abramson Scholarship Foundation is to honor and further Fred Abramson’s beliefs in:
  • the importance of higher education;
  • education’s critical role in the ability of individuals and communities to achieve their goals;
  • the value of community service to both those who serve and those who are served; and
  • the contribution that mentoring, particularly of women and people of color, can make towards the educational and professional success of those who are mentored.
